There is a difference between using Indigenous imagery to make a product look mystical and creating something with the intention of honoring a specific people, place, and spiritual tradition.

The Muse Goddess Botanica Taíno Collection was created with Borikén, present-day Puerto Rico, as its center.

This collection draws from Taíno history, spiritual traditions, ancestral remembrance, the natural world, sacred community spaces, and the enduring cultural presence of Taíno heritage in Puerto Rico.

These are not generic “Caribbean” candles. They are not a mixture of unrelated Indigenous traditions. Each piece has been created around a specific subject within the collection, with care given to the history and symbolism behind it.

And, like all Muse Goddess Botanica Original Works, every candle is hand-poured and handmade from start to finish.

Muse Goddess Botanica was never built around simply putting a label on something manufactured somewhere else.

Our candles are hand-poured, handmade and finished from start to finish.

That matters especially with this collection.

When working with a cultural tradition, the details matter, the names, the imagery, the symbolism and the history behind what we place on an altar.

We don't need to borrow from every Indigenous tradition to make something powerful.

This collection belongs to Borikén.

It is created to encourage remembrance, respect, connection and deeper learning about Taíno heritage, not to claim that modern spiritual practice is identical to what was practiced centuries ago.
